The premier morning television show - ABC's Good Morning America broadcast Live from the Bavarian Village of Leavenworth Washington on the morning of November 29, 2007.
Because the show begins at 7am East Coast time, the Good Morning Crew had to be on the spot reporting at a very early 4 AM West Coast time. Chamber of Commerce Director Nancy Smith says, "We brought out the entire town out to meet them. And show the wonderful Christmas spirit we are known for."
Said one of the morning show anchors, "I can't imagine there is a more festive Christmas spot in all of America. I mean these folks really do it up right."
Leavenworth is world famous for its year round Bavarian and cultural festivals. The village's Christmas Lighting ceremonies happen every Saturday and Sunday for the three weekends beginning November 30th through December 16th. There are food and craft booths, caroling and hand bell concerts and much more. Holiday festivities continue on through Christmas and New Years.
The town of Leavenworth is perched high in the Alp like Cascade Mountains of Washington State. Citizens converted the town to a replica Bavarian Village years ago and it has become the most popular attraction in Washington state with its authentic Bavarian architecture, parks and shops. It is situated on the pristine Wenatchee river and hosts sporting events year round.
